Apply for Funding
Do you have an idea for a new project that could benefit the community (i.e., York, Jane-Finch, or related communities)? Or are you an established program with a proven track-record of helping helping improve the conditions of your community? You can apply for funding from YUFA-CP to support your work!

YUFA-CP funds are dedicated to support community-based work that:
-
Increases educational access and outcomes connected to York University
(e.g., greater inclusion, supporting traditionally marginalized York students) -
Supports the conditions of community self-advocacy and empowerment
Applicants can submit an application form in one of two ways:
1. Downloading and filling out a PDF application (either form-fillable or basic PDF) and submitting it to cp.yufa@gmail.com OR
2. By filling out and submitting an application online.

Requests for urgent and unplanned needs over the Summer months (May to August) can be sent via e-mail ($500 or less), with no application form required.

Ongoing Programs
Roughly 40% of our budget is dedicated to support Ongoing Programs. The Programs will typically be well established with a long history of success and past funding from YUFA-CP, in addition to funding from other sources. These requests are often for more than $5,000.
Seed Projects
Approximately 55% of our budget is earmarked for Seed Projects. These Seed Projects are new initiatives that are not fully established, and will often not have access to or qualify for other sources of funding, aside from that provided by YUFA-CP. Requests for Seed Projects are typically less than $5,000 and you can make a request as small as a few hundred dollars. We fully understand that new ideas don't always work out and if that's the case for your Seed Project, it is not a problem: you won't have to return the money and you can always apply to us again with a new idea.
For both Ongoing Programs and Seed Projects, note that we do not fund salaries (only honoraria up to max of $500), nor administrative/overhead fees. For both, please apply using the buttons above.

Applications for Ongoing Programs and Seed Projects are accepted throughout the year and evaluated twice per year, in November (Apps due Oct. 15) and in April (Apps due Mar. 15). Slightly more funds tend to be allocated for the first deadline compared to the second (60/40 split).

Summer Emergency Funds
The remaining 5% of our budget supports Summer Emergency funds. This money is used to support unplanned, newly emerging and immediate needs that occur over the summer months (June to August). Requests for emergency summer funds are made via a simple e-mail describing the situation to YUFA-CP, with amounts below $500. But please note that these funds can only be distributed at the end of each month, currently.
Unused Summer Emergency funds are returned in equal proportion to the budgets for Ongoing Programs and Seed Projects. Similarly, unused funds for either Ongoing Programs or Seed Projects are directed toward the other category to ensure that all funds are distributed to the community in some form or another.
